Meet Renita Duncan
I am a single mother, a grandmother, and a survivor who thrives. I am a servant leader who has spent 35 years doing the work, not talking about it. I am running for Georgia House District 147 because this community deserves accountable, attainable representation they can trust to fight with their voice. I already understand what it costs to live here, and I have the record to fight for it
That breadth of experience, personal, professional, and public, is what Houston County District 147 will have in an advocate who speaks up and legislates with purpose.
I enlisted in the U.S. Army at 18 and served for 28 years. I experienced my first mobilization to Fort Sam Houston, Texas at the age of 20 in support of Operation Desert Storm. I also served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, deploying to Camp Doha, Kuwait in 2004 and Camp Ramadi, Iraq in 2007.
I rose to Command Sergeant Major, the Army's highest enlisted leadership position, where I advised senior commanders, managed the readiness and welfare of hundreds of soldiers, and led with the conviction that leadership exists to serve the people in its care.
I am a Bronze Star recipient and was the first Command Sergeant Major named USARC's Equal Opportunity NCO of the Year in 2016.

My civilian career spans every level of government. The final chapter of my federal career was served as Equal Opportunity Program Manager for Air Force Reserve Command in Warner Robins, Georgia, where I directed military and civilian EEO, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Human Relations Education programs.
As Violence Prevention Integrator for the Department of Defense in Los Angeles, I built strategic partnerships and redesigned prevention practices across the command.
Earlier in my career, I spent over a decade with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services as a caseworker, HR manager, and regional appeals coordinator serving families in need.

I hold:
Master of Science in Human Behavior Capella University
Bachelor of Science in Operations Management Southwestern College
Bachelor of Science in Business Management Grantham University
I am a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and a certified Department of Defense mediator.
I am the founder of My Stride Inc., a 501(c)(3) leadership development organization.
In District 147, I am running on five commitments:
Expanding affordable healthcare and protecting reproductive rights
Advocating for transit solutions that connect veterans and underserved residents
Fighting for wages tied to the real cost of living
Defending equal opportunity and a workforce free from discrimination
Standing for every woman's right to vote, choose, and live free from violence
I am rooted in service to this district, and I am ready to serve it forward.
